Dear friends and supporters of the Ramsey Music Society,
It is my pleasure to let you know some information about our next concert.
Summer has begun, and our season is continuing through June and July. On Monday 15 June we have a flute and piano duo performing for us.
Internationally renowned flautist Bettine Clemen performed in 176 countries. After completing Master of Performance degree at the Academy of Music in Munich, she played with Salzburg Mozarteum, Prague Chamber Orchestra and was Solo flautist for the Belo Horizonte Symphony, Brazil. She also was one of the first Western musicians to be invited to China in 1985 to perform and teach masterclasses in Shanghai and Beijing.
In 2000 Bettine began working on documentary films, and her film ‘Flutasia: A Love Song to a Planet’ was shown twice on PBS. In 2021 all her music films were shown on Austrian TV stations. Her films take viewers on journeys around the world to Iceland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, South America, Oman, Jordan, Asia and Antarctica, and Bettine’s love for animals is shining through her playing for ‘all creatures great and small’
International concert pianist Olga Eggert is one of the most versatile performers and presenters on a concert circuit. She studied in Conservatoire in Odessa, and became a soloist of the Philharmonic Societies in Crimea and Odessa, Ukraine. She made many appearances on Ukrainian, Russian and Belorussian TV and performed in Moscow, Minsk, Kiev and other cities of the former Soviet Union, playing for many Soviet and post-Soviet leaders.
She moved to the Isle of Man in 1998 and continued her music studies at Trinity College (London), being awarded FTCL in Piano Performance, ATCL in Organ Performance and AMusTCL in music theory. Olga has performed in various venues around the world – in the UK and Europe, in South America, Japan and the USA. She has been a guest of Cape Town Classical Music programme, Manx Radio, Radio Belarus, Danish Radio Klassisk and BBC ‘Songs of Praise’.
Our June concert programme presents popular pieces by Bach, Mozart, Verdi, Chopin and Morricone, as well showcasing the sounds of flutes from various countries. It promises to be an entertaining evening of the celebration of music from around the world.
The concert of Bettine Clemen and Olga Eggert takes place at the West Building of the Ramsey Grammar School, on Monday 15 June at 19.30. Tickets are £15, paid at the door in cash. Our concerts are free for school-age pupils.
Again, a reminder that we also need new members to join our Committee. Please consider coming on board, as we shall appreciate any help you can give us – accommodation for the artists, posters’ distribution, media promotions etc. ‘Your Society Needs You!’
