Get Ready for a Night of Fun with Ramsey Music Society!
Dear friends and supporters of the Ramsey Music Society,
We did not have a concert in August, but we still have two more exciting concerts for you this season, in September and October.
Our July concert, on Monday 13 July was by Yuanfan Yang. It was an unusual combination of classical pieces, his own compositions and improvisations on the themes suggested by the audience. Truly memorable!
Our September artist is also a pianist, Hiroaki Takenouchi, who is Japanese, although he is currently residing in England. He is known for his wide repertoire, and his love for the music of classical masters – particularly Haydn, Beethoven and Chopin – sits side by side with his passion for the music of lesser-known composers like Medtner, Bennett and Parry, and also for the contemporary repertoire. In his concert in Ramsey he will be performing pieces by Haydn, Elgar, Rachmaninov and Gershwin.
As a soloist, Hiroaki appeared in Wigmore Hall, South Bank Centre in London and Tokyo Opera City. He has also performed at festivals in Bath, Cheltenham and Salzburg, Pretoria and has given recitals in the UK, Japan, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, Italy, South Africa and Canada. He also has recorded several CDs, including piano duets with pianist Simon Callghan and arrangements for orchestral works for piano solo.
Hiroaki Takenouchi is a Blüthner Artist and owns a beautiful 1922 Blüthner piano. He is a visiting tutor at the Trinity Laban in London and also works at the Royal College of Music as Duo Coach with the string department.
The concert of Hiroaki takes place at the West Building of the Ramsey Grammar School, on Monday 21stSeptember at 19.30. Tickets are £15, paid at the door in cash. Our concerts are free for school-age pupils.
Again, a reminder that we also need new members to join our Committee. Please consider coming on board, as several Committee members will be stepping down next year, and we cannot run the Society without a Committee. We shall also appreciate any help you can give us as a one-off assistance – accommodation for the artists, posters’ distribution, media promotions etc. ‘Your Society Needs You!’
