Get Ready for a Night of Fun with Ramsey Music Society!
Dear friends and supporters of the Ramsey Music Society,
On Monday 15 June we had a flute and piano duo performing for us, international concert pianist Olga Eggert (Ukraine-Isle of Man) and international flautist Bettine Clemen (Germany).
Our July concert is on Monday 13 July and this time we welcome concert pianist Yuanfan Yang.
Based in Leeds, Yuanfan Yang has diverse repertoire, which reflects his interest in a broad range of musical styles. Yuanfan is also a composer and has composed four full-scale piano concertos which have been performed throughout China, France, Russia and the UK.
Highlights from the past season include concert appearances with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestra of Opera North. He also performed at Sydney Opera House, Brighton Festival, Beaminster Festival, St George’s Bristol, and Milano Auditorium.
Yuanfan also regularly includes in his concerts improvisations, where audiences are invited to suggest any theme and a style, and Yuanfan would play improvisations based on those suggestions.
Yuanfanreceived many awards, including 1stPrize in the Ricard Vines International Piano Competition 2025, and 1stPrize in the James Mottram International Piano Competition 2025, and many others. In July 2023, Yuanfan became the first British laureate of the Sydney International Piano Competition in more than 40 years since David Owen Norris and Martin Roscoe in 1981.
Yuanfan’s compositions were broadcast on BBC 2, BBC 4 and BBC Radio 3. He holds International Artist Diploma from the Royal Northern College of Music, London’s Royal College of Music and Royal Academy of Music.
Our July concert includes pieces by Mozart, Rachmaninov and Debussy, and promises to be an entertaining evening. We hope to see many of you there.
The concert of Yuanfan Yang takes place at the West Building of the Ramsey Grammar School, on Monday 13 July at 19.30. Tickets are £15, paid at the door in cash. Our concerts are free for school-age pupils.
Our next concert is on Monday 21 September, and our soloist is Hiroaki Takenouchi, who performed in Ramsey in September 2021. We are glad to welcome Hiroaki back to our beautiful island.
